This paper examines M. Mustafa Al-A'zami's attempt to prove the existence of an uthmanic script in qur'anic manuscripts since the first century of Islam to the present. There has been a debate among scholars about whether the Qur’an existed in a specific written form since the first century of Islam and if so, in what form. This paper addresses the following questions: Who is M. Mustafa Al-A'zami? What are his contributions in qur'anic studies? What methods has he used to analyze qur’anic manuscripts? What are the strengths and weakness of his study of the qur'anic manuscripts?
