Frank & timme SINTA

Abstract

The several numbers of the jussive particles and nouns of Arabic conditional sentences classification and function that carry the implication and effect of the conditional meaning make it preferable to divide the structural part of the conditional particles and nouns into three main divisions in this chapter. The first section will cover the jussive particles that consist of the particles ʾin and ʾidhmā. Both are regarded as the particles which affect the imperfect verbs in the conditional sentences by putting them into the jussive condition. The second section will provide the corpus-based study of the jussive non-adverbial nouns, namely, man, mā, and ʾayyuhum, that affect the conditional construction the same. Moreover, the last section will focus on the jussive adverbial nouns; ʾayyu ḥīn, matā, ʾayna, ʾannā, and ḥaithumā in the conditional construction.
