Abstract

This paper examines the development and challenges of scientific Qur’anic interpretation in Muslim-majority countries, particularly Indonesia and Malaysia. Despite separate research efforts in both countries, the lack of comparative analysis hampers a deeper understanding of the evolution, intellectual contributions, as well as the challenges and opportunities in each context. This study employs various methodologies, including literature review, content analysis, and comparative analysis, to explore the progress and obstacles in the scientific interpretation of the Qur’an in both nations. The approach reflects a concerted effort to integrate traditional Islamic scholarship with modern scientific understanding.
